Sophisticated, whimsical and unconventional … who said benches have to be boring?

Created by JOHNHOUSHMAND for a private Tribeca residence, this small, forgotten entrance way was transformed into an inviting and tranquil resting place. The unusual proportions of the room are used to full advantage by the asymmetrical arrangement of two floating benches. The single starfire glass leg compliments the fish-eye window, which looks out on a well-appointed roof garden.

The golden glow from the live edge spalted maple gives this otherwise unadorned entryway a warm atmosphere, while the positioning of the benches gives the small space a dynamic presence that’s all its own.
