This is the nitty gritty. Please read this section with care and make sure that you really understand.
LEAD TIMES
Production lead-time for custom pieces is 16 weeks from receipt of deposit. Shorter lead times are available upon request and are subject to price increase with notice. In order to meet production delivery dates we insist on timely approval from the client on all information as requested by us with respect to slab selection and all shop drawings. We will inform you of all deadline dates. If you do not meet these dates, this may compromise our commitment to the 16-week delivery. Orders may not be canceled, nor deposits refunded due to delivery outside normal production schedules.
WOOD VARIATIONS
Slight variations in wood grain and coloration are natural and JOHNHOUSHMAND is not responsible for such variations that are within a reasonable range of the approved product. The natural qualities of your furniture may vary slightly from samples provided, but will be within a range deemed by us to be acceptable. Items quoted assume specified wood species. Change in wood and material specification is welcome, however, this may result in additional charge. Unusual or extremely characterized slabs selected by a client may incur price increase upon notice.
SLAB SELECTION & FINISHES
A 50% nonrefundable deposit is required to initiate order and secure slab selection. Slab Selection process is only available on custom orders, only after a deposit is received, and not on wholesale orders. The finish of all work is quoted with a clear, satin, catalyzed conversion varnish for interiors and exteriors. This is the finish we recommend as it reveals the natural beauty of the wood. Any stain, bleaching, fuming, cerusing, or custom finishes will be an extra charge.

Quotes are valid for 60 days from date issued.
DEPOSITS & PAYMENT
A 50% nonrefundable deposit, exclusive of crating and delivery charges, is required to initiate orders of furniture and secure slab selection. The final balance, inclusive of crating, delivery, installation, taxes, change orders and site visits must be paid prior to the order being shipped. No pieces will be released without payment in full. We accept payment by check or wire transfer.
On architectural projects progress payments will be billed. Payments are due on request. If timely payments are not made your work in progress status may be compromised.
CHANGE ORDERS
Will be billed with notice.
FREIGHT & DELIVERY
Local delivery fees are determined and charged before the final invoice is sent out. Long distance delivery fees must be determined by quote. Deliveries assume freight elevator for locations above first floor – meaning ground level. There will be an additional charge for walk-ups and we must be advised in advance in order to have proper manpower. All delivery fees must be paid in full, in advance, without exception.
JOHNHOUSHMAND is not responsible for appropriate delivery access at any client site and will give no refunds if this occurs. In addition, there will be delivery and storage fees charged if any furniture is required to be brought back to workshop.
INSTALLATION
The client is responsible for knowing that all elevators, stairwells, corridors and doorways of his/her home or apartment will permit normal delivery. Installation will be billed per hour, per person and any other appropriate charges are added to the final invoice (if not already included in initial quote).
We are not a contracting firm and do not offer these types of service. Customer is responsible for the site being properly prepared to receive any work that needs to be installed or mounted into walls, floors or ceilings.
STORAGE
Invoices that have not been paid within 30 days of receipt and/or paid pieces not collected are subject to a 5% of item value service charge per month.
SITE VITIS
Site visits are not included. If requested or required they are billed for time and travel.
CANCELLATION
Our work is made to order and not subject to cancellation. Changes may be made but change orders will be billed as appropriate.
CUSTOMIZATION
Measurements and specifications are subject to variation with notice. All items are subject to price changes upon notice with further elaboration and design modifications. Fabrication on custom pieces does not begin until a final drawing has been signed and approved by client.
PRODUCT CARE
These wood materials are natural and, as in nature, require temperature and humidity control of 60-80 degrees F and 20-40% relative humidity. If these conditions are not met we cannot be responsible for the degree of movement or cracking. A product care sheet will be included with your original JOHNHOUSHMAND product.
